Apple Flagship Store in NYC

If you haven’t already heard, you can buy an Apple product any day at any time at NYC’s Fifth Ave. Apple Store.  When I first heard about this place back in 2006 (it opened May 19th), I thought to myself, who needs to buy an iPhone at five in the morning?  But, as we all know, it’s not about need in this Capitalist society of ours, it’s all about WANT–and Apple is making bank off of that very concept.  Just a few hours ago, Apple’s annual sales figures were released and they pulled in a whopping $350 million at their Fifth Avenue location alone!  As U.S. retail sales dropped by 9%, Apple Stores actually increased their profits by 2.5% during the first six months of this year.  Incredible… and all thanks to that magically iconic iPhone that everyone feels the need to own, according to Bloomberg analysts.

It truly is amazing that Apple can rake in profits around the clock.  I guess with so many late-night wanderers and tourists in central NYC, there’s always bound to be someone passing through.  I have always been a MAC fan, but just because the iMAC is so compact and easy to use… I wouldn’t consider myself a fanatic or anything and I certainly would not pitch a tent to snag the latest iPhone.  But I must admit, this glowing glass cube definitely intrigues me and the next time I am in NYC, I will have to pay it a visit…. but purely for the love of all things Open 24 Hours, of course.

As the editor of 2itch.com, I get to find all the places across the nation that are open up way past my bedtime. I'm a wanderer by nature, so finding late night grub, coin-operated racquetball, and slushies in the middle of the night has been a lot of fun for me. And I'm sure there's a lot of other wanderers out there who would find this information useful... so enjoy and drop me a line when you find some cool 24 hour places of your own.
