While hunting for 24 hour spots in our Nation’s Capital, I stumbled upon this lively spot that combines reading, eating, and drinking all in one place. This not-so-hidden gem, located on Embassy Row, caters to locals and visitors alike with its conscientious selection of books hand picked by the owners and staff. If you’re in the mood to stay for awhile, you can dine here around the clock and even pair your meal with one of the 18 specialty brews on tap or a glass of wine. The cafe and bookstore are open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays and ’til 1am Sunday-Thursday.

The New York Times refers to Kramerbooks as a “cultural landmark” and many people do not consider themselves true Washingtonians until they have received a phone call that begins as an invitation for drinks after work and ends with “I’ll meet you at Kramer’s.” I know that the next time I am in Obama’s backyard, I will be trying this place out!

Here’s a video piece WETA neighborhoods did on Kramers:

As the editor of 2itch.com, I get to find all the places across the nation that are open up way past my bedtime. I'm a wanderer by nature, so finding late night grub, coin-operated racquetball, and slushies in the middle of the night has been a lot of fun for me. And I'm sure there's a lot of other wanderers out there who would find this information useful... so enjoy and drop me a line when you find some cool 24 hour places of your own.
