Orphan Andy’s is a 24-hour no-fuss diner that’s been open forever in San Francisco’s Castro District. You’ll get the typical diner fare at Andy’s for a pretty good price. I ordered the chicken fried steak but it tasted more like a sausage patty that was deep fried in batter, which was tasty and weird at the same time (probably because I couldn’t quite figure out what kind of meat I was actually eating). My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs which was huge but still edible by my hungry man in one sitting. Overall the ambience was laid-back, the service was friendly (loved our pierced up server in the kilt), and it seemed like it was a food joint catering to locals… A good diner experience, not amazing, but good…

As the editor of 2itch.com, I get to find all the places across the nation that are open up way past my bedtime. I'm a wanderer by nature, so finding late night grub, coin-operated racquetball, and slushies in the middle of the night has been a lot of fun for me. And I'm sure there's a lot of other wanderers out there who would find this information useful... so enjoy and drop me a line when you find some cool 24 hour places of your own.
