Massive surf shop sells beach-worthy goods in Cocoa Beach around the clock

There are alot of random things out there that are perpetually open, but one of the weirdest stores that I’ve come across that’s open 24/7 is Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach, FL.  Located 5o miles east of Orlando, Cocoa Beach is apparently a cool destination point for surfers and beachgoers… which is why Ron DiMenna, the company founder, decided to pop up a massive surf store right on the beach in 1963.  The multi-level shop that looks like an “art deco castle” has over 52,000 square feet of surf stuff and features its own waterfall and glass elevator (talk about gaudy)… It’s actually the largest surf shop in the world!  Bands come to play from time to time and they also do beach rentals.  I must say, it’s a bit of a tourist trap (come on, glass elevator in a surf shop?), but it is open 24 hours, which is the appealing factor to me.

There are Ron Jons across the east, but this is the only one that’s open 24 hours, 365 days a year.  If you want to pick up some shades and a $600 surfboard at 4am, then this is definitely your place.

As the editor of 2itch.com, I get to find all the places across the nation that are open up way past my bedtime. I'm a wanderer by nature, so finding late night grub, coin-operated racquetball, and slushies in the middle of the night has been a lot of fun for me. And I'm sure there's a lot of other wanderers out there who would find this information useful... so enjoy and drop me a line when you find some cool 24 hour places of your own.
